What is Stache?
Stache is a peer-to-peer marketplace for sharing free space for storage and long-term parking. People can host their free space on Stache for others who are looking for storage space to rent. We help hosts make money off their free space and renters save money by having access to cheaper storage. Stache does everything from storing furniture and boxes to the parking and garaging of RVs, boats, cars, and motorcycles.
Are items insured?
We offer four tiers of protection at checkout so you can choose exactly what kind of protection you want on your things. Please note that to collect on this coverage, you must catalog your items and provide the host a copy. It is your responsibility to take inventory of items you put into storage. This information is necessary when making a claim for damage or theft.
What can I Stache?
As long as the host is OK with it, you can store pretty much anything EXCEPT:
- Inherently dangerous materials including gasoline; compressed gas; propane tanks; kerosene; lamp and motor oil; acid; grease; corrosives; fertilizer; paint; cleaners; chemicals; narcotics; hazardous, toxic or biological waste; asbestos or products containing asbestos; fireworks; explosives; and weapons or ammunition.
- Radioactive equipment or anything that contains radioactive materials.
- Perishable food products.
- Any animals or plants - alive or dead.
- Stolen or illegal items.
- Anything the host has deemed inappropriate to be stored on the host's property.
For your protection, we also do not recommend storing items with a collective value over $20,000 (excluding automobiles) or anything of significant sentimental or monetary value.
What happens after I make a Stache request?
After you make a request, the host has 72 hours to respond. If your request is accepted, we will process your payment and email you a receipt with additional details about the listing. We encourage you to contact your host to determine logistics regarding the drop off and placement of your items, once the booking has been accepted.
Instant Bookings?
The lightning bolt logo denotes that a space can be instantly booked. These spaces can be moved into the next day. Once you make an instant booking, you can directly message your host to coordinate move in.
How long can I rent a Stache?
Stache has a 1-week minimum and no maximum length of storage rental.
When am I billed?
We bill upon booking acceptance, and then every 4 weeks (28 days) after the booking's start date.
How do I pay?
Payment is handled via credit/debit card through our Stripe-integrated payment system.
What do I do if a host wants a cash/check payment?
A host should never ask for direct payment, and any direct payment violates our Terms of Service. Acting outside the platform removes all liabilities from Stache, in addition to protections in place regarding the safety of your goods.
What is the platform fee for renters?
To help Stache run smoothly and to cover the costs of the products and services we provide, like 24/7 customer support, we charge a platform fee when a booking is confirmed. We split the fee between the renter and the host. For renters, this platform fee is 10% of the monthly cost of the space.

What is "stress-free" storage?
Our stress-free storage service removes the hassle of finding your own storage space. Simply provide a few details about your stuff, how much space you need, and where you are located, and we’ll take care of the rest. Coming nationwide soon!
I submitted a stress-free booking request. What’s next?
You’ll be assigned to one of our secure spaces and we’ll reach out within a day to schedule pick-up time for moving day.
How much does moving cost?
Moving costs a simple $1-per-minute, which includes two movers and a truck. You’ll only be billed for the time it takes to pick up, deliver, and unload your things after delivery is complete.
How do I access my stuff?
Once your things are moved in, we’ll connect you with your host via your Stache account. The host manages your space and will be your point of contact for accessing your items. When you’d like to access your things, simply coordinate using the Stache messenger. We ask that you reach out to your host at least 48 hours before you’ll need access. Many of our spaces have 24/7 access!
